Advertising disclosure

Updated May 15, 2020

ThinkMobiles accepts advertising, yet adheres to clear separation between advertising and editorial content. We present advertising material in a way as not to interfere with reading experience as best as possible, in terms of page design and the number of ads.

  • All advertising or sponsored content on ThinkMobiles is visibly and unequivocally distinguished from editorial content. This may be design elements and/or identifiers (“Ad”, “Advertisement”, “Sponsored”).
  • All ads or paid content on ThinkMobiles are marked as “Ad” / “Advertisement” / “Sponsored” / “Sponsorship”, etc., on indicating that the content is provided by or on behalf of a sponsor.
  • Editorial content on ThinkMobiles is not influenced by advertisers in any way, except sponsored content marked as “Advertisement”, “Sponsored”, etc.
  • In some cases, editorial content may include links to partners from which ThinkMobiles receives an affiliate commission (more details below). The placement of such links is not influenced by payment, and editorial staff keeps the right to modify or remove it any time in order to provide the best experience to users.

Advertisement standards

All ads or paid content must not contain any of the following: disruptive audio or animation, malware, spyware, adware, phishing or other scams, violated proprietary rights and trademarks, data collection forms. Alls ads must not promote any of the following: illegal activities, violence, discrimination, drug or alcohol use, adult content, profanity, misleading or false information.

How we earn money

The way ThinkMobiles is able to offer hundreds of articles and reviews for free to visitors is by partnering with advertisers and affiliate partners. This helps to pay our team of analysts and copywriters. At the same time, we maintain strict editorial independence, including software reviews and recommendations. If a product is worthy, we’ll recommend it no matter if it is advertised or not, and vice versa - advertised product does not guarantee 100% positive review.

Advertised content may be in one of the following forms:

Affiliate links

An affiliate relationship (more information on affiliate marketing) is a mutually beneficial cooperation, when a company gets a product/service review by ThinkMobiles, and we get a fee from customer conversions. Thus, clicking on a hyperlink of a product means we receive a commission, either a visitor goes to a product or signs up to use it. Links to certain products may also not be from advertisers, and just a good product we are recommending in article context. Affiliate links may also be in the form of conventional banners, as in the beginning of “10 Best Free Driver updaters” for example.

“10 Best Free Driver updaters” article example

Featured products

Featured products are clips with brief summary and a link to products from our advertisers. Mainly, we include it in the form of top-3 products in the beginning of articles about best software or best companies. We always try to highlight the best possible offers or solutions, relevant to the topic, yet it is important to remember it may not coincide with editorial choice.

Featured products clipping example

Sponsored placement

Typically in IT services categories or top companies selections, Sponsorship placement implies a monthly recurring fee paid by companies which would like to be ranked high, thus promoting their services to target audience. Aiming to distinguish sponsor content, we will mark it with the “Sponsored” designation.

Display advertising

Conventional display ads and video ads, as a part of digital ad networks, such as Google AdSense and others. All display ads are labelled as advertisements and are easily recognized.

We strongly believe in transparency on the web, therefore we have to be honest with our visitors. For full transparency, you can find a list of affiliate partners ThinkMobiles is currently working with.

Editorial policy

Updated May 15, 2020

Our mission is to collect, analyze, simplify and present information about software so that our readers are able to make informed decisions. Software market is constantly expanding, evolving and shifting, it is extraordinarily tough to keep up as a casual user. Therefore, ThinkMobiles team reviews all kinds and sorts of modern software, recommends the best applications, reviews individual applications, picks top software development companies, compiles FAQs and user tips, etc. Over the years, we’ve helped thousands of people, small businesses and corporations.

Principles and ethics

Empowerment. There are literally millions of programs, mobile apps, extensions, platforms, utilities, online tools (SaaS). Our goal is to provide direction, advice and tips users can benefit from in decision making or problem solving.

No bias. From concise user tips, product reviews to extensive software analysis, we try to provide a full picture, with all the facts, nuances and cautions, in a proper context. We carefully research all the information available, compact it and present it without bias, prejudice or affection towards any agenda.

Accuracy. Having practical, accurate, relevant and unbiased information, presented in a comprehensive format is our prime goal. We are working hard to constantly improve the quality of content, and are always open to correcting any mistakes or inaccuracies. Contact us for corrections.

We are abiding by the Codes of Ethics of the Society for Advancing Business Editing and Writing (SABEW). We follow the guidelines of the Society for Professional Journalists’ foundations of ethical journalism: accuracy, fairness, harm minimization, independence, accountability and transparency. ThinkMobiles content serves informational purposes only, it is not intended to substitute the advice of certified experts.

Editorial process and standards

Our staff of analytics, researchers, consultants and writers writes and uploads all the articles and content on ThinkMobiles. We do not make direct recommendations to purchase any particular software. We provide relevant analysis, context, user tips and FAQa to help make clever decisions. Wherever possible we provide concrete examples capable of solving certain issues.

We are continually evaluating our articles, and updating them when information gets out of date. Such content is then date-stamped to reflect this. Every article is prepared by efforts of several people to ensure accuracy, usefulness, readability and preserving the editorial principles. A person you see as an author has been managing a team effort for that particular article. ThinkMobiles team decides on content topics independently, writers and contributors each possess a subject matter expertise in the topics assigned.

ThinkMobiles staff are carefully recruited, vetted and trained. Each of them is experienced in a given area, e.g. security software, e-commerce, trading applications, PC utilities etc., and all are perfectly capable of communicating complex topics in accessible form. Every author is listed at the top of the blog article, along with brief biography/credentials and links to social media profiles. All writers are required to uphold the editorial principles and guidelines listed above.

Third-party content

Third-party content is cautiously reviewed by the ThinkMobiles editorial team to ensure it too upholds our principles and standards. In this regard, we reserve the right to modify and edit third-party content. All such content is labeled to notify readers. Currently, we do not accept or post third-party content on ThinkMobiles blog. It is accepted only to the catalogs of Softwares and services (as their description, pricing, pictures), and in user reviews of products and services generated by our visitors and contributors.

In addition, we may collect, use and disclose your PI as required or permitted by applicable law, or as directed by you, in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

We do not knowingly “sell” personal information that we collect from you, in accordance with the definition of “sell” in the CCPA, and will treat personal information we collect from you as subject to a do not sell request. There is not yet a consensus as to whether third party cookies and tracking devices associated with our websites and mobile apps may constitute a “sale” of your PI as defined by the CCPA. You can exercise control over browser-based cookies by adjusting the settings on your browser. We also list cookies and provide access to their privacy information and, if available, opt-out programs in our Cookie Policy. Further, you can learn more about your choices regarding certain kinds of online interest-based advertising with the Digital Advertising Alliance or the Network Advertising Initiative. We do not represent that these third-party tools, programs or statements are complete or accurate.

Some browsers have signals that may be characterized as do not track signals, but we do not understand them to operate in that manner or to indicate a do not sell expression by you, so we currently do not recognize these as a do not sell request. We understand that various parties are developing do not sell signals and we may recognize certain such signals if we conclude such a program is appropriate.

California Consumers have the right to exercise the privacy rights under the CCPA. California Consumers may exercise these rights via an authorized agent who meets the agency requirements of the CCPA. Any request you submit to us is subject to an identification and residency verification process (“Verifiable Consumer Request”). Please follow the instructions at our Contact Us page here and respond to any follow up inquiries we may make. In order to verify your identity, we will send you an email to the email address that you provide to us, and you must take action as described in our email. This will enable us to verify that the person who made the request controls and has access to the email address associated with the request. We will check our systems for the email address that you provide, and any information associated with such email address. If you provide us with an email address that has not been used to interact with us, then we will not be able to verify your identity. In other words, the only reasonable method by which we may verify the identity of individuals is if we have an email address on file that was provided to us in relation to our services. We will be unable to fulfill your request if we cannot verify your identity.

Some personal information we maintain about Consumers is not sufficiently associated with enough personal information about the Consumer for us to be able to verify that it is a particular Consumer’s personal information (e.g., clickstream data tied only to a pseudonymous browser ID). As required by the CCPA, we do not include that personal information in response to Verifiable Consumer Requests. If we cannot comply with a request, we will explain the reasons in our response.

We will make commercially reasonable efforts to identify Consumer PI that we collect, process, store, disclose, and otherwise use and to respond to your California Consumer privacy rights requests. We will typically not charge a fee to fully respond to your requests, but we may charge a reasonable fee, or refuse to act upon a request, if your request is excessive, repetitive, unfounded, or overly burdensome.

To make a request according to your rights to know or to request deletion of your PI set forth below, please click here, where you will find a description of the process we use to verify your request and any information that we will need to confirm your identity. For your specific pieces of information, as required by the CCPA, we will apply heightened verification standards, which may include a request to provide further information.

You have the right to send us a request, no more than twice in a twelve-month period, for any of the following for the period that is twelve months prior to the request date:

  • The categories of PI we have collected about you.
  • The categories of sources from which we collected your PI.
  • The business or commercial purposes for our collecting or selling your PI.

You have the right to make or obtain a transportable copy, no more than twice in a twelve-month period, of your PI that we have collected in the period that is 12 months prior to the request date and are maintaining.

Please note that PI is retained by us for various time periods, so we may not be able to fully respond to what might be relevant going back 12 months prior to the request.

Except to the extent we have a basis for retention under CCPA, you may request that we delete your PI that we have collected directly from you and are maintaining. Note also that we are not required to delete your PI that we did not collect directly from you.

You may alternatively exercise more limited control of your PI by instead exercising one of the following more limited opt-outs, including unsubscribing from email newsletters.

We will not discriminate against you in a manner prohibited by the CCPA because you exercise your CCPA rights. However, we may charge a different price or rate, or offer a different level or quality of good or service, to the extent that doing so is reasonably related to the value of the applicable data. In addition, we may offer you financial incentives for the collection, sale and retention and use of your PI as permitted by the CCPA that can, without limitation, result in reasonably different prices, rates, or quality levels. The material aspects of any financial incentive will be explained and described in its program terms.
